Welcome to ABC Children's Aid Kenya

ABC Children´s Aid Kenya was founded in 2006. Our main work is to help poverished children in the slums of Nairobi to get an education. We are currently sponsoring around 620 children. Our heart also goes out to the street kids. Many of those kids and teenagers have lost hope in life as they have suffered through rejection, hunger and all kinds of abuse. Our desire is to give them a new life by offering them a home, love and education. So many of them have amazed us by their turn around in life and their wonderfull testimonies. We are currently housing around 160 children in our children´s home in Nairobi.

How can you help?

You can help us either by donating a one-time amount or subscribing to a monthly support. With montly support you are personally sponsoring one of our children. We accept payments through PayPal. You can either create a PayPal account for your convenience or use your creditcard directly.  Simply click subscribing to a monthly support to find a child to sponsor and that will in turn take you directly to PayPal to finish the process.

Sponsoring a Child

We fund our work by connecting an individual child with a sponsor that provides his or her schoolfees and sometimes the child´s full care when needed. As a sponsor you get reports and letters regularly from the child and you are able to follow the progress and upbringing of the child throughout the years. To sponsor a child costs from 35 U.S. dollars a month to 50 U.S. dollars a month, depending on the level of support you choose to give and also whether the child recieves full care in our children´s home or the child lives with a guardian and is a dayscholar in our program. Click here to find a child to sponsor. You may also support us by donating $10 monthly, which goes to assist unsponsored children.

Street girls

It is estimated that there are 250,000 street children in Kenya. Of these, about 60,000 live in the capital, Nairobi. The children leave home for various reasons but mainly because of poverty and physical and verbal abuse. Because of the poor situation at home the children choose to live on the streets and fend for themselves, begging for money and sleeping in gutters and other places where they can find some shelter. Often the street children resort to using glue or other intoxicants to escape the harsh reality of their lives. Street girls in particular are in danger of being raped or sexually abused when living on the streets.

News of April

We have been blessed by many visitors here in Kenya this month and therefore the month has been very lively and eventful. We moved all our boarding kids to a new location and now the kids are really enjoying the new large playing ground. The new location is on a school compound in the center of the Mathare slum. It is like a happy oasis for us in the middle of the miserable poverty and it is truly a blessing. At the moment 140 kids are staying with us in the boarding, but we have another 480 kids in our school sponsorship program as dayscholars.
